Why use templates?
Earlier on in the book we talked about a Power Page and the things you could put on it to keep track of extra client details before entering them into your CRM or contact files. The Power Page is an example of a useful template. You can create other templates that represent items such as your pipeline as shown below. The pipeline you see pictured is from Power Marketing International and is used by many companies across the world. Creating and using templates makes your life easier and facilitates sharing your expertise with others. Print some of your best ones and hand them out at events. Make sure your contact information is on all pages. At the end of the chapter you will find a picture of a pipeline
When you share a template, you are creating an opportunity to share your expertise and to gain the confidence of potential customers. They will want to get to know you better and learn more about what you do. Just make sure that you do not give away everything all at once, just give them a teaser that is useful so that they will come back for more.
Whatever you decide to do to share some of your knowledge, be consistent with your message. Make sure that everything is trademarked so that you will get recognition when your ideas are shared with others that you are not aware of. Watermark forms on the web and ingrain your logo and contact information.
Bette Daoust, Ph.D. has been networking with others since leaving high school years ago. Realizing that no one really cared about what she did in life unless she had someone to tell and excite. She decided to find the best ways to get people's attention, be creative in how she presented herself and products, getting people to know who she was, and being visible all the time. Her friends and colleagues have often dubbed her the "Networking Queen". Blueprints for Success - Networking: 150 ways to promote yourself is the first in this series. Blueprints for Success Branding Yourself: Another 150 ways to promote yourself is planned for release in 2006. For more information visit http://www.BlueprintBooks.com
